Spiced Hot Chocolate

A great little pick-me-up drink, a genuinely warming, nourishing food as medicine treat; hormone balancing when made with walnut milk.

 

Cacao is one of the richest plant-based sources of iron & antioxidants. Cacao has anti-inflammatory, brain, nervous systems and heart-healthy nutrients making cacao a delicious food as a medicinal drink. Cacao is bitter; bitter flavours are great for stimulating our digestive enzymes and boosting our metabolism.

 

Drinking pure unprocessed cacao powder – warm in winter, chilled in summer is a great way to get your daily dose of chocolate and some deeply nourishing and grounding nutrients.

    Spices, herbs and foods that are grounding, warming and calming with earthy rich tones and flavours.  These foods help the body relax are generally rich in anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial nutrients.

Ingredients

  • 2 -3 tsp cacao | cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp pumpkin spice | baking spice
  • 1 ½ cups hot water | nut milk*
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ½ - 1 tsp maple syrup - optional

Method

Spiced Hot Chocolate

 

BOIL the kettle OR heat the walnut milk or milk of your choice.

 

ADD baking spices or Pumpkin Spice Mix + all the other ingredients to your mug. 

 

POUR hot water | Walnut Milk or both.  SWEETEN to your taste.

 

STIR, SIP & enjoy your hug-in-a-hug food as medicine treat!
