Raspberry Basil Bliss Smoothie

The combination of raspberries, basil and orange here gives you a bright, fragrant, sweet-tart refreshing flavour.  The seeds add some creaminess, protein and essential minerals. Basil is a sweet-spicy and slightly peppery leafy herb that is cooling and calming to the nervous system.  Basil helps relax nervous tension and ease digestive issues, especially those associated with stress and anxiety.

  • 2 cups raspberries – fresh or frozen
  • 1 orange - peel, cut into ¼
  • ½ cup fresh basil leaves*
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds*
  • 3 tbsp raw pumpkin seeds*
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup ice - to make extra cold

Method

Raspberry Basil Bliss

 

BLEND all ingredients in a blender until smooth. If your machine is single-serve, blend in batches.  

 

TASTE and adjust the texture by adding more water if too thick. Add honey if you like a sweeter taste.

 

SERVE with a sprig of basil.

Tips + Suggestions

*LOW FODMAP + IBS you can leave out the seeds.

 

BOTANICAL BOOST ADDS = plant-based protein powder, açai berry powder, marshmallow root powder, lucuma, maca (gelatinised is easier to digest). 

 

SWAP raspberries for blueberries, strawberries or mix them.
