This hot cacao is an adrenal restorative hug in a Mug made with dates + creamy Tahini + supportive botanicals all blended together to make a fabulous and nourishing restorative drink | snack that’s good any time of the day and great as a warming 3 pm pick-me-up! 

 

I have a tendency to be busy and tax my adrenals and I am always looking for something yummy…I created this specifically to help me focus on restoring and nourishing my adrenal system and give myself a good dose of nutrient-dense mineral-rich foods that my body can easily absorb. A great warming afternoon “snack” especially in the colder months.  This blend has a deep, rich, earthy taste but is not sweet, 1 date is enough to balance the taste if you need more sweetness add more dates…

  • 2 tablespoon raw cacao powder
  • 1 date - deseeded
  • 1 teaspoon tahini *
  • 1 teaspoon plant protein powder - plain
  • 1 teaspoon Lucuma*
  • 1 teaspoon Tocotrienols powder*
  • ½ - 1 teaspoon Ashwagandha Root powder **
  • ½ teaspoon Triphala*
  • 1 ½ cups hot water

Method

Hot Chocolate with Cacao, Date & Tahini

 

BLEND all ingredients together in a high-speed blender.

 

TASTE – if you need more sweetness add more…

 

DRINK warm in a mug; treat yourself to a few moments to yourself away from devices while you enjoy this restorative food as medicine.

 

STORE – you can double this recipe, store in the fridge and reheat gently on the stovetop or in the blender with a little added hot water.

Tips + Suggestions

*LOW FODMAP use sugar or maple syrup instead of dates for sweetness

 

MAKE-AHEAD: Mix up a triple batch of the powders together in a small jar for a super-fast Hug in a Mug.

 

TAHINI is sesame seed paste. Tahini can be substituted for coconut oil or another nut or seed butter; adds creaminess, nutrients and fat as some nutrients are fat-soluble.
